Ilse Bracke


Ilse is a senior business developer, innovation expert and change navigator with over 20 years of experience using digital technologies with as main application domains mobility, industry 4.0 and Smart Cities. She worked in senior positions within the private sector and the academic world oa. for University of Antwerp, and was lecturer, researcher, and coordinator of the Business Intelligence Competence Center (BICC) of the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences between 2001 and 2017. Before joining Synthetron and setting up Focus4u, Ilse was director of research valorisation at imec where she facilitated the pre-incubation of different spin-offs.

Dropped into the world of data more than 20 years ago, Ilse has an extensive experience in providing in-depth business solutions, enabling innovation initiatives, and implementing systems to generate value out of data. She is a creative problem solver, can see common things in new ways, and can bring creative leadership to a team as a result. She is analytical, likes flexible environment that allows creativity, brings a positive sense of humour, is people oriented in a stable and sincere way, has a strong ability to clarify complex issues, and to define the essence of a problem or a solution.

Ilse holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Engineering from Solvay Business School (University of Brussels). In her spare time, she is EU Code Week Ambassador and helps to coordinate the EU Code Week initiative in Belgium as a volunteer. She was selected as a Mentor-Volunteer of the European Innovation Council for the new Women Leadership Programme (1st cohort in 2021). She likes horses, reading and walking in nature.
